Digitalization can help to save carbon emissions. Yet, digitalization itself creates emissions, for example, during software development or operations. There is currently no transparency on how digitalization investments can reduce carbon emissions.
We are happy that Zürcher Stiftung für Textilforschung are funding our research project on this topic. Together with our project partner Rieter, we are going to investigate effective measures to reduce the emissions created due to digitalization in the textile industry. We are planning to study the emission footprint of the software development life cycle, optimize it, and calculate the return on investment.
